How we work
Web Merchants is an independent publication for people who run a Shopify store. This page says where the steps come from, how we keep them current and how the site is paid for.
Where the steps come from
Shopify's own documentation
Every step is written from the Shopify Help Center or Shopify's developer docs, and each one links to the page it comes from. Menu names and button labels are copied from those pages, not from memory.
Plan and country limits stated
When Shopify says a feature depends on your plan, your country or a newer admin setup, the guide says so next to the step.
Dated checks
Each guide shows the date it was last checked against Shopify's documentation. We check every guide at least every 60 days, and sooner when Shopify announces a change to a screen it covers.
A public changelog
When a step changes, the guide's changelog says what changed and when. The What changed page lists every entry.
Corrections
If a step no longer matches your admin, tell us which guide and which step, and what you see instead. We check it against Shopify's current documentation, fix the guide and log the change in its changelog. Corrections are never removed from the log.
